Here's one of my favourite photographs from a recent wedding in Cardiff. I like the graphic shapes formed by the light and dark areas of the picture. This is an example of one of those pictures that comes about from spotting a good composition and then waiting for something interesting to happen within that frame.
I spend a lot of time just waiting during a wedding day. People often come up to me and sympathise that I must spend such a long time waiting around between pictures. But the waiting is a crucial part of the photography. I may be standing in one place waiting, but what I'm really doing is watching, and making myself ready to catch the interesting thing that will make the picture. Sometimes nothing happens and I move on, but when something does happen, its usually worth the wait.
