What Weddings Are All About - The Albion, Islington, London

Wedding Photojournalism at The Albion, Islington, London

I think this picture sums up what makes a wedding great - friends and family getting together and having a good time.

This was taken at The Albion, a small pub in Islington that is also a great wedding venue. After the toast the guests started a spontaneous sing-song and I managed to get this shot which shows everyone enjoying themselves - and isn't that the whole point of having a party?

Kate and Sam, London

Kate and Sam got married at the old Marylebone Town Hall in London and had their reception at The Albion in Islington, with an old-style London bus to ferry the guests between the two.

This is one of my favourites from the morning preparations. I'd spotted the veil hanging in the bathroom shortly after arriving, but wanted to wait until Kate was in her dress to get the picture I had in mind. When the opportunity presented itself later it was just a matter of waiting for the right moment when everything came together - Kate is in the right position and there's nobody in the bathroom obstructing my view of the veil.

Its a picture which I had pre-visualised, but it might not have happened. That's fine though - I've learned not to try and force pictures or be disappointed when things don't line up the way I hoped. There's always something else to photograph.
