I hear that a lot. The thing is I'm usually standing behind someone for a reason. I'll be using them as a frame for the photo or some foreground interest to improve the composition. They're not "in the way" - they are intentionally part of the picture. The trick is to try and get the picture I want before they realise I'm there and move. Once they've moved its too late.
